T-Ball (ages 5-6)

Clinics: April 6th at 5:15 p.m.

For our younger players, T-Ball is a great beginning. This is about fun and an early learning experience which allows our youth to enjoy sports at a younger age. This league is open to boys and girls, and league play will begin in late April.

Y-Ball (ages 7-8)

Clinics: March 12th and March 16th at 5:15 p.m.

For boys, this league plays real baseball except for the substitution of a reduced injury factor baseball. This plays like a baseball but reduces the risk of injury and helps the player get used to the overhand pitch. League play will begin in April or early May.

Dixie Youth-Minor (ages 9-10)

Clinics: March 13th and March 15th at 5:15 p.m.

In Dixie Youth, we emphasize proper skill techniques. The direction leans towards good sportsmanship and fair play in competitive baseball. Minor league is for boys. League play will begin in late April.

Dixie Youth-Major Ozone (ages 11-12)

Clinics: March 13th, March 15th and March 20th at 5:15 p.m.

In Dixie Youth Ozone, we emphasize proper skill techniques. Runners can take a lead off the base and can steal at any time. The direction leans towards good sportsmanship and fair play in competitive baseball. Major league is for boys. League play will begin in late April.

Girls’ Fast-Pitch Softball Darlings (ages 7-8)

Girls’ Fast-Pitch Softball Angels (ages 9-10)

Girls’ Fast-Pitch Softball Ponytails (ages 11-12)

Girls’ Fast-Pitch Softball Belles (ages 13-15)

Clinics: March 20th and 22nd at 5:15 p.m.

In this league, girls are given a chance to improve their softball skills while competing against others of similar ability. Play will begin in late April or early May.

Pony League (ages 13-14)

Youth are given a chance to compete at a higher level of play and coaching. Play will begin at the conclusion of the Middle School season.

Process for Dividing Baseball/Softball Teams:

In order to preserve the youth sports program and to make the team selection fair for all participants, the Youth Committee has developed the following procedure for team selection:

The YMCA Sports Director will divide the teams in the T-Ball age group. This will be done as equally as possible according to age and ability, not by requests.

In all other age groups, teams will be selected by a draft involving the coaches.

* Teams will be drafted as soon as possible after the clinics.

* Pre-season team practices will be held until the regular season games begin.

* Games will begin at the end of April and the season will last until the end of June.

* An outdoor cookout banquet will be held at the end of the June.

* All participants will receive certificates of participation.

Trophies will be given out to individuals on the first place regular season team (exception-no trophies in T-Ball). The first place regular season team will not play in the play-offs which are held after the season. Trophies will be given out to the winners of the play-offs. There will be no superlatives given out such as Most Valuable or Most Improved.

All-Star teams will be chosen for the Dixie Youth League by the following method:

A coach for the team will be secured by the end of the season. The coach and Sports Director will make selection of the team with no regard to certain number per team, etc.
