YMCA Mission Statement:

The mission of the Eden YMCA is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

Class Descriptions:

Abs – An ab class on and off the stability ball. Using the ball we are able to get a better range of motion, engage more muscle work and improve core strength and stabilization.

SilverSneakers Cardio Circuit – Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular endurance and power with a standing circuit workout. Upper body strength work with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball is alternated with non-impact aerobic choreography. A chair is offered for support, stretching and relaxation exercises.

Cardio & Weights – This is a fun-filled class combining weight training, step aerobics and kickboxing. It is a great workout and lots of fun!

Cycling – An intense cycling class, full of hill climbs, jumps and sprints. It’s a challenging workout that can push you to your limits.

Line Dance – Please contact Debbie Smart for more information.

Pilates/Stretch – A mat based class that focuses on developing core muscle stability and flexibility.

SilverSneakers – Muscular strength and range of movement conditioning class (MSROM). This is a chair or stand up fitness class for seniors. This fitness program is proven to aid in the day to day activities for older adults to improve circulation and coordination.

SilverSplash – Offers lots of fun and shallow water moves to improve agility, flexibility, and cardiovascular endurance. No swimming ability is required.

Shallow Water Exercise – A great, high energy work out that gets your heart rate up. The class is taught in the shallow end of the pool, so non-swimmers are welcome. This is a one-hour class.

ZUMBA – This aerobic class incorporates a little bit of Latin and a little bit of African dance to give an all around great workout. It will be lots of fun so come and join us.

Tips for a Successful Workout:

*Go at your own pace.

*Pay attention to your own fitness level.

*Drink plenty of water.

*Always check with your doctor before starting an exercise program.

*Warm-up and cool-down are very important. Try not to miss them.

Physical Examination

The YMCA advises that all new members have a physical examination before beginning participation in any active gym and pool class.

Fitness and Rules

1. You must be 16 years of age to be in the fitness area alone. Youths, ages 13 -15 may be in the fitness area under the supervision of an adult. This means the adult must be the workout partner of the youth he or she is supervising.

No one under the age of 13 is allowed in the fitness area at any time.

(Exception: Monday – Friday, 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., 13-15 yr. olds may workout during this time period without an adult, provided they are using machines properly and following procedures.)

2. No food, drinks, or tobacco products of any kind are allowed in the fitness area.

3. Shirts and shoes must be worn at all times.

4. Please do not allow weights or dumbbells to crash to the floor at the completion of a set. This will cause extensive damage to our carpet, concrete floor, and weights. Please unload all bars and replace weights to their proper places after use.

5. Anyone performing multiple sets, or supplementing free weights with Nautilus or Cybex, must yield to persons doing circuit training on Nautilus machines.

Asphalt Walking/Running Track

If walking or running is more for you, there is an asphalt track on the YMCA grounds. The track covers the perimeter of the ball fields behind the YMCA. The measured distance is 1/3 mile for the smaller track and 2/3 mile should you choose to walk/run the larger track and circle the front of the building.

If you decide to walk inside:
